VP Shettima Drums Support for Oyebanji, Urges Ekiti to Back Continuity at APC Mega Rally

Vice President Kashim Shettima on Monday led a high-level campaign push for the re-election of Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji at the All Progressives Congress (APC) grand finale mega rally in Ado-Ekiti, describing his second-term bid as a “ticket of continuity, stability, and progress.”

Representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Shettima said Governor Oyebanji’s joint ticket with his deputy, Chief Mrs. Monisade Afuye, reflects balance, experience, and tested leadership that should be renewed by the electorate.

He told supporters that the election goes beyond routine politics, stressing that Ekiti stands “at the gate of a larger Nigerian journey” where continuity, he said, represents an investment in peace, development, and future prosperity.

The Vice President, who was joined by APC governors, lawmakers, and ministers, urged voters to turn out en masse on election day and support the APC candidate, noting that governance must continue to focus on citizens across all sectors of society.

According to him, Governor Oyebanji has governed with humility, patience, and a deep understanding of public service, adding that his administration has prioritized infrastructure, welfare, and inclusive governance.

“Power is a loan from the people,” Shettima said, praising the governor’s leadership style as people-centered and development-driven.

He further assured that the Federal Government would continue to partner with the Ekiti State Government to deepen development, expand economic opportunities, strengthen security, and promote shared prosperity.

Also speaking at the rally, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda commended Oyebanji’s performance, urging residents to support his re-election bid.

Governor Oyebanji, in his remarks, thanked President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima for their support and appealed for peaceful conduct before, during, and after the election.

Earlier, the Vice President also paid a courtesy visit to the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti and met with the Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers, assuring them of continued federal support for traditional institutions.

The traditional leaders pledged their support for both the federal and state governments ahead of the election.
