Kwankwaso Denies Involvement in Planned Protest, Urges Nigerians to Embrace Democratic Process

Former Governor of Kano State and Vice Presidential Candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has distanced himself and his supporters from a purported protest being circulated on social media over the worsening insecurity across the country.

In a press statement issued on Monday, Kwankwaso described the message as false and misleading, urging members of the public to disregard the information and those responsible for spreading it.

The former governor stated that neither he nor the NDC had endorsed or planned any protest, stressing that the party remains committed to peaceful and lawful means of addressing the nation's challenges.

According to him, the NDC does not support any action capable of disrupting public order or resulting in the destruction of lives and property.

"Our attention has been drawn to a message currently circulating on social media falsely claiming that we are planning a protest over the rising insecurity in the country," the statement read.

Kwankwaso emphasized that responsible leadership requires constructive engagement rather than actions that could escalate tensions, noting that the party remains focused on promoting peace and stability.

He further reaffirmed his belief in democratic principles, insisting that elections remain the most legitimate avenue for citizens to express dissatisfaction and effect political change.

"As committed democrats, we firmly believe that the ballot box remains the most legitimate and effective way to express grievances and seek change," he said.

The NDC chieftain expressed confidence in his party's chances in future elections, stating that the party is poised to secure victory through peaceful democratic processes.

Kwankwaso therefore called on Nigerians to ignore the viral message and remain vigilant against misinformation designed to mislead the public and create unnecessary tension in the country.

The statement comes amid growing concerns over insecurity in several parts of Nigeria and increasing political activities ahead of future electoral contests.
