A significant political development has emerged in Osun State as the political structure aligned with former Osun East Senator and ex-APC National Secretary, Iyiola Omisore, has declared its support for the re-election of Governor Ademola Adeleke ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

In a statement shared via his Facebook page, Omisore—an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain who previously contested for the party’s governorship ticket in Osun State—said the decision followed consultations across his political structure in the state.

According to him, the move was taken in what he described as the overall interest of Osun State, its people, and the need to sustain unity, progress, and good governance.

“It is official. The political structure of Senator Iyiola Omisore across Osun State has resolved to stand firmly with Governor Ademola Adeleke for his re-election.

This decision is in the interest of Osun State, its people, and the continued pursuit of unity, progress, and good governance.

As we move toward the August 15 gubernatorial election, our position is clear, our structure is united, and our support is total.

Osun is moving forward.”

The endorsement marks a notable shift in the state’s political landscape, coming from a prominent APC figure who had earlier participated in the party’s governorship primaries in which he reportedly expressed dissatisfaction with the emergence of the party’s candidate.

Omisore had previously described the process as an imposition of the APC gubernatorial candidate in Osun, a position that had generated political debate within party circles at the time.

Political observers say the latest declaration could influence alignments ahead of the election, as parties intensify campaigns across the state.

The Osun governorship race is expected to be closely contested, with major parties seeking to consolidate support across key political blocs in the state.
