We’re Still on Course for Victory — Osun APC Reacts to Fresh Defections
By Abdulahi Musa
The All Progressives Congress in Osun State says it remains undisturbed despite a fresh wave of resignations by prominent party members linked to former National Secretary, Iyiola Omisore.
Among the latest to quit the party are former House of Representatives member Ismaila Kolawole and former Osun lawmaker Olajide Adeyeye. Kolawole cited the need for “personal peace, inner mind rest and self-respect,” while Adeyeye said his decision followed careful consideration.
Their exits add to a growing list of APC chieftains who have recently resigned, including Lekan Oyediran, Aleem Bakare, Folorunso Oladoyin, Jamiu Olawumi, Taiwo Akeju, and Sunday Ojo-Williams.
Responding to concerns over the defections, Osun APC spokesperson Kola Olabisi said the party remains focused on securing victory for its governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, in the August 15 election. He argued that the departures would not weaken the party's electoral prospects.
Similarly, APC chieftain Olatunbosun Oyintiloye described the defections as a normal feature of politics, insisting that the party's grassroots structure remains intact and that it is still well-positioned for victory in the forthcoming governorship poll.
