Wole Oke Rejects Allegations Linking Him to Aderogba's Killing, Calls for Prob

 A member of the House of Representatives and Director-General of the Osun State Governorship Campaign Council, Hon. Oluwole Oke, has denied allegations linking him and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the killing of an Accord Party member, Ajayi Aderogba, popularly known as Rogba.

Aderogba was reportedly shot dead on Tuesday in Esa-Oke, Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State, during preparations for a political rally in support of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s second-term bid.

The allegation against Oke was made by the spokesperson of the Adeleke Campaign Organisation, Pelumi Olajengbesi, who claimed that the federal lawmaker had made efforts to frustrate the planned political event in the community before the fatal attack occurred.

Reacting to the accusation, Oke, through a statement issued on Wednesday by his media aide, Tunde Omolebi-Sunday, dismissed the claims as false, baseless and misleading. He expressed shock over Aderogba’s death and extended condolences to the deceased’s family, friends and residents of Esa-Oke.

The lawmaker criticised those making allegations before the completion of police investigations, stressing that conclusions reached without credible evidence or findings from security agencies were premature and irresponsible.

Oke maintained that neither he nor the APC had any connection to the killing and called for a thorough, impartial investigation by security agencies to establish the true circumstances surrounding the incident.

According to the statement, preliminary information from the community suggested that the incident may have arisen from clashes involving rival groups, with possible reprisal attacks, although it emphasized that only a proper investigation could determine the facts.

The federal lawmaker further urged political actors and residents to remain calm, avoid inflammatory statements and allow law enforcement agencies to carry out their duties professionally. He also warned against politicising a tragic loss of life, insisting that matters involving death should not be reduced to political tools.

The killing has heightened political tensions in Osun State ahead of the forthcoming governorship election, with calls mounting for security agencies to uncover those responsible and ensure justice for the deceased.
