"You Can't Expect Tinubu to Wear Khaki" — Adeboye Defends Tinubu on Insecurity

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has come to the defence of President Bola Tinubu amid growing criticism over Nigeria's security challenges, insisting that the President has carried out his constitutional responsibility by directing the nation's security agencies to address the crisis.


Speaking at the US-Nigeria Faith Heroes Award Gala hosted by the Save Nigeria Group in Washington, D.C., Adeboye said it was unrealistic to expect the President to personally engage in military operations.


According to the cleric, once the Commander-in-Chief has issued clear directives to the armed forces and security agencies, he has fulfilled his duty. He stressed that the President's role is to provide leadership and strategic direction, not to take part in combat.


Adeboye likened Tinubu's responsibilities to those of US President Donald Trump, noting that world leaders typically rely on military commanders and security personnel to execute operations rather than participating on the battlefield themselves.


While defending the President, the respected preacher admitted that insecurity remains a serious concern across the country. He observed that terrorism and kidnapping, which were once concentrated mainly in northern Nigeria, have now spread to parts of the South, worsening public anxiety.


He disclosed that he had personally discussed the security situation with President Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, urging the President to give military commanders a 90-day deadline to significantly curb terrorism or step aside.


Adeboye also called for stronger action against those funding terrorist activities, alleging that influential politicians and wealthy individuals are among those sustaining insecurity. He urged the Nigerian government, with support from the United States and other international partners, to intensify efforts to eliminate terrorism and restore lasting peace across the country.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit.
