2027: 'Everywhere Go Blur' for Atiku, Obi, Others, Keyamo Predicts Tinubu's Victory

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will secure a second term in the 2027 presidential election, describing the contest as a "coronation exercise" rather than a fiercely contested poll.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, Keyamo said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) enjoys a strong electoral advantage based on its nationwide political structure and what he described as favourable demographic realities.

According to the minister, the opposition would struggle to mount a serious challenge against the President in the next general election. He stated that, based on available political indicators, Tinubu remains well-positioned to defeat leading opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi.

Keyamo said the 2027 election would be "a coronation, not an election," but clarified that his remarks should not be interpreted as suggesting the poll would be manipulated or rigged. Rather, he argued that the APC's political dominance would make victory straightforward for the incumbent president.

The minister also dismissed Peter Obi's electoral prospects, questioning where the Labour Party leader would secure enough votes to challenge Tinubu. He similarly downplayed Atiku Abubakar's chances, insisting that the former presidential candidate no longer poses a significant threat to the ruling party.

His comments come amid increasing political realignments and consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections, with opposition parties exploring possible alliances to challenge the APC.

Keyamo's remarks have since generated reactions across the political landscape, with supporters of the opposition rejecting his prediction and maintaining that the 2027 election will be decided by Nigerian voters.
