Adeleke Enrols Osun Monarchs, Queens in Free Health Insurance, Commissions OSHIA Hall

 Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on Tuesday commissioned the newly completed Osun Health Insurance Agency (OSHIA) Multipurpose Hall and officially flagged off the enrolment of traditional rulers and their queens into the Osun Health Insurance Scheme (OHIS).


The governor described the twin initiatives as another milestone in his administration's drive to improve access to affordable and quality healthcare for residents of the state.


Speaking during the ceremony, Adeleke said the free enrolment programme would ensure that traditional rulers and their spouses receive quality healthcare services without financial hardship, in line with his administration's people-centred healthcare policy.


He said the initiative also reflects his government's commitment to strengthening the health sector while expanding social welfare programmes for all categories of citizens.


Highlighting his administration's achievements, Adeleke said his government has delivered major projects across infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture and workers' welfare. According to him, over 300 kilometres of roads have been constructed, more than 200 primary healthcare centres rehabilitated, over 150 schools renovated, while salary and pension obligations have been addressed. He also cited support for cooperatives, agricultural interventions and the ongoing construction of a five-star stadium as key accomplishments.


The Executive Secretary of the Osun Health Insurance Agency, Dr. Rasaq Akindele, commended Governor Adeleke for creating an enabling environment for the agency to function effectively and for prioritising reforms in the health sector.


Akindele described the enrolment of traditional rulers and their queens as a strategic initiative that recognises their contributions to community development while positioning them as advocates for health insurance awareness at the grassroots.


He added that the newly commissioned OSHIA Multipurpose Hall represents a strategic institutional investment executed in line with the agency's enabling law, with emphasis on transparency, accountability and prudent management of public resources.


The event also witnessed endorsements for Governor Adeleke's second-term bid from leading traditional rulers in the state.


The Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Olanipekun, Larooye II, praised the governor's performance, saying he would continue to commend Adeleke for what he described as excellent governance in Osun State.


Similarly, the Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, Laminisa I, lauded the governor's developmental efforts, noting that communities across the state were benefiting from his administration's projects.


The ceremony concluded with the symbolic presentation of health insurance identity cards to traditional rulers and their queens, marking the official commencement of their enrolment into the Osun Health Insurance Scheme.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit.
