Adeleke Orders Urgent Rehabilitation Of Osogbo's Olaiya Bridge

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has directed the immediate rehabilitation of the Olaiya Bridge in Osogbo, citing the need to preserve the infrastructure and ensure it complements the newly completed Okefia Flyover Bridge scheduled for commissioning.


The governor gave the directive on Sunday after inspecting the condition of the bridge during a stopover in Osogbo. Concerned by its deteriorating state, Adeleke ordered the Ministry of Works to commence urgent repairs and maintenance.


He instructed the ministry to assess the structural condition of the bridge, carry out a comprehensive cleanup, address any defects, and upgrade its appearance to align with the standard of the newly constructed Okefia and Lameco flyover bridges.


"The Ministry of Works should immediately act on this Olaiya Bridge. Let us clean it up. It is a state asset, and we must ensure its proper maintenance. This should be done before we commission the Okefia Bridge," the governor said.


Adeleke stressed that public infrastructure must be preserved regardless of the administration under which it was constructed, noting that governance is a continuous process that requires responsible stewardship of public assets.


"I believe government is a continuum. All inherited projects are being completed by our government, and all completed projects by previous administrations must be appropriately maintained," he added.


The directive comes as the state government intensifies preparations for the commissioning of the Okefia Flyover Bridge, one of the flagship infrastructure projects of the Adeleke administration.


The governor's spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, said the rehabilitation is part of the administration's commitment to maintaining public infrastructure while delivering new projects across the state.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area.
