Army Dismantles Illegal Arms Factory, Seizes Five AK-47 Rifles in Kebbi

Troops of the Nigerian Army have dismantled an illegal arms manufacturing factory in Kebbi State, recovering five fabricated AK-47 rifles and several weapons-making equipment during a coordinated operation aimed at curbing the proliferation of illegal firearms.


The operation, carried out by troops under Operation FASAN YAMMA, followed credible intelligence on the activities of suspected illegal arms manufacturers operating within the state. 


Military authorities said the raid led to the recovery of five fabricated AK-47 rifles, one locally made pistol, empty AK-47 magazines, skeletal rifle components, ammunition casings, recoiling springs, rifle butts, and a variety of industrial tools used in fabricating firearms, including drilling, welding and filing machines. 


Security operatives also arrested suspects believed to be connected to the illegal arms production network. The suspects are currently in custody and are assisting investigators with efforts to identify and apprehend other members of the syndicate. 


According to the military, the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks responsible for supplying illicit weapons to bandits and other armed groups, particularly in the North-West region.


The Army reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining intelligence-driven operations against arms traffickers and other criminal elements, while urging members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to enhance national security.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

  By Abdulahi Musa  The Accord Party has won the governorship election at the polling unit of former Osun Deputy Governor and ex-National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore. Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit.
