Court Sentences Three To Life Imprisonment Over Oyo School Abduction

The Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced three men to life imprisonment for their involvement in the abduction of pupils and teachers from schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.


The judgment, delivered on Thursday, found the convicts guilty of offences connected to the kidnapping, which drew nationwide attention after dozens of pupils and teachers were seized by armed men.


The court held that the prosecution established its case against the defendants, leading to the life sentences in line with the provisions of the law governing kidnapping-related offences.


The Oyo school abduction, which occurred earlier this year, triggered widespread concern across the country and prompted coordinated security operations that eventually secured the release of the victims.


The case is regarded as one of the major prosecutions arising from the incident, with authorities maintaining that those responsible for the attack would be brought to justice.


The judgment comes as security agencies continue investigations aimed at apprehending other individuals linked to the kidnapping.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

  By Abdulahi Musa  The Accord Party has won the governorship election at the polling unit of former Osun Deputy Governor and ex-National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore. Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit.
