Cristiano Ronaldo Confirms 2026 World Cup Will Be His Final Tournament

Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed that the 2026 FIFA World Cup will be the last major international tournament of his illustrious career.


The 41-year-old football icon made the announcement during an interview, saying he has no plans to feature in another World Cup after the 2026 edition, which will be jointly hosted by United States, Canada and Mexico.


Ronaldo said he remains fully committed to helping Portugal achieve success at the tournament and is focused on preparing himself physically and mentally for what he expects to be his final appearance on football's biggest stage.


The five-time Ballon d'Or winner has represented Portugal in six European Championships and five FIFA World Cups, becoming the country's all-time leading scorer and one of the most decorated players in football history.


Widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time, Ronaldo has enjoyed a remarkable career with clubs including Sporting CP, Manchester United F.C., Real Madrid CF, Juventus FC and Al Nassr FC, winning numerous domestic and international titles.


His announcement has sparked reactions from football fans across the world, many of whom see the 2026 World Cup as the final opportunity to watch one of the sport's greatest stars compete at the highest level in international football.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

  By Abdulahi Musa  The Accord Party has won the governorship election at the polling unit of former Osun Deputy Governor and ex-National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore. Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit. The development marks another early gain for Accord as the collation of results from polling units across Osun State continues.
