Dangote to Donate One-Third of Fortune to Charity, Daughter Reveals

Africa's richest man, Aliko Dangote, has concluded plans to donate one-third of his vast fortune to charitable causes as part of a carefully structured succession plan, according to his daughter, Halima Dangote.


Halima, who serves as a trustee of the Aliko Dangote Foundation, disclosed the development during an interview with Bloomberg, explaining that the billionaire has already secured the support of his family for the decision.


According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Dangote's net worth is estimated at about $35.1 billion, meaning that roughly $11.7 billion could eventually be dedicated to philanthropy if his wealth remains at that level.


Halima said her father has long viewed philanthropy as an essential part of his legacy and has incorporated it into the family's long-term inheritance plans.


She explained that the foundation focuses primarily on improving healthcare and education, adding that Dangote had already made substantial commitments to the foundation in line with Islamic inheritance principles.


According to her, the arrangement ensures that a significant portion of his estate will continue to fund charitable initiatives long after his lifetime.


Dangote, founder of the Dangote Group and one of Africa's most influential businessmen, has built a reputation for large-scale philanthropy through the Aliko Dangote Foundation. Over the years, the foundation has invested billions of naira in education, healthcare, poverty alleviation, nutrition, disaster relief and humanitarian interventions across Nigeria and other African countries.


The latest disclosure reinforces Dangote's commitment to using a substantial part of his wealth to support social development and improve the lives of millions across the continent.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit.
