Foreign Carriers, Aviation Companies Owe Nigeria's NAMA ₦67bn

Foreign airlines and aviation companies operating in Nigeria owe the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) more than ₦67 billion in outstanding navigational and related service charges, the agency has disclosed.


The Managing Director of NAMA, Farouk Umar Ahmed, revealed the debt during a stakeholders' meeting, describing the situation as a major challenge affecting the agency's ability to sustain critical air navigation services across the country.


According to him, the outstanding liabilities are owed by several foreign airlines and aviation service providers that have continued to use Nigeria's airspace without fully settling the statutory charges due to the agency.


Ahmed said NAMA had intensified efforts to recover the debts through engagement with the affected operators while working closely with relevant aviation authorities to ensure compliance with payment obligations.


He noted that prompt payment of navigational charges is essential for maintaining and upgrading the country's air traffic management infrastructure, improving operational safety and enhancing the efficiency of Nigeria's aviation sector.


The NAMA boss reaffirmed the agency's commitment to providing safe and efficient air navigation services, stressing that recovering the outstanding ₦67 billion would strengthen its capacity to modernise equipment, improve service delivery and meet international aviation standards.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit.
