Former Osun West Senatorial Aspirant, Peter Ogundeji Quits APC

Chief (Dr.) Peter Taiwo Ogundeji, popularly known as APATA, has formally resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), ending his affiliation with the ruling party in Osun State.


In a resignation letter dated July 11, 2026, and addressed to the APC Chairman of Ward 6, Ola, Ejigbo Local Government Area, Ogundeji said his resignation takes immediate effect.


The former Osun West Senatorial aspirant explained that his decision followed "deep personal reflection and extensive consultations," describing it as one made in the overall interest of his political convictions and future aspirations.


According to him, although the decision was difficult, it was reached after carefully considering the opinions, concerns and aspirations of his political associates, supporters and other stakeholders who have remained loyal to him over the years.


Ogundeji stated that the move reflects a shared commitment to pursuing political ideals in an atmosphere of fairness, inclusiveness and mutual respect.


Despite leaving the APC, he expressed appreciation to the party for the opportunities it provided during his membership.


"I sincerely appreciate the opportunities the party gave me to serve, contribute to its growth, and work alongside many committed leaders and members. I remain grateful for the relationships forged and the valuable experiences gained during my membership," the letter read.


He urged the party to accept the letter as his formal notice of resignation and conveyed his highest regards to its leadership.


Copies of the resignation letter were also forwarded to the APC Chairman in Ejigbo Local Government Area and the Chairman of the APC Osun State Chapter.


Ogundeji's resignation is expected to fuel political speculation over his next move ahead of future political activities in Osun State, although he did not disclose his next political destination in the letter.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

  By Abdulahi Musa  The Accord Party has won the governorship election at the polling unit of former Osun Deputy Governor and ex-National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore. Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit.
