'If I'm Assassinated, Iran Will Be Wiped Out' — Trump Threatens Total Military Retaliation Against Tehran

U.S. President Donald Trump has declared that he has ordered the American military to launch a devastating retaliatory strike against Iran if the country attempts to assassinate him, amid escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran. 


Speaking through a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said he had directed the military to be prepared to "completely decimate and destroy" Iran should its government carry out or attempt an assassination against him. He claimed that about 1,000 missiles were "locked and loaded," with thousands more available if necessary. 


Trump stated that the directive would remain in effect for one year, with the option of extending it if security threats persisted. He maintained that the United States would respond with overwhelming force to any attack targeting him. 


The remarks come amid renewed concerns over alleged Iranian assassination plots linked to the 2020 U.S. drone strike that killed Iranian military commander Qassem Soleimani. American intelligence agencies have repeatedly warned of threats against current and former U.S. officials involved in the operation. 


Trump's comments have further heightened tensions between the two countries, which have experienced a series of diplomatic and military confrontations in recent months. While Iranian officials have not immediately responded to his latest warning, analysts say the statement is likely to deepen the already fragile relationship between Washington and Tehran.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit.
