IPA Appoints New Governing Council for The Polytechnic Imesi-Ile

 The Imesi-ile Progressive Association (IPA) has constituted a new Governing Council for The Polytechnic Imesi-ile  as part of renewed efforts to reposition the institution as a leading centre for technology, innovation and academic excellence.


The Association announced the appointment on Monday, naming renowned management, information technology and accounting professional, Mr Babafemi Egbeniran, as Chairman of the 15-member Governing Council.


Egbeniran, a Fellow of the Institute of Chattered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), holds a Bachelor's degree in Management and Law from the University of London and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). He brings decades of experience spanning the private and public sectors across Africa and Canada.


According to the Association, the new Governing Council will provide strategic leadership through policy formulation, institutional governance and long-term planning to strengthen the Polytechnic's administration and drive its vision of becoming a globally competitive institution.


Other members of the Council are Dr Toyin Ogundeji, Mr Kunle Siyanbola, Prof Blessing Foluso Adeoye, Dr Sayo Ajiboye,  Prof Omolola Irinoye, Mr Ayodeji Olufemi Ayotunde, Mrs Comfort Kemi Olatunde, Mr Femi Oluyede, Mrs Foluke Akinwande, Mr Folarin Familusi, the sitting IPA President as the Proprietor's Representative; Barr Sola Agbeluyi, , the IPA Vice President I as the Association's representative; Chief Kayode Awoyinfa,  Rector; Dr Tokunbo Bifarin and Registrar/Secretary to the Council; Mr Adeyemi Joseph Kehinde.


IPA said the appointments take immediate effect from July 6, 2026, and will remain valid until July 5, 2029.


The Association expressed confidence that the wealth of knowledge, professional experience and leadership capacity of the new Council members would significantly contribute to the advancement of the institution and enhance its status as a reference point for quality polytechnic education.


It also acknowledged the commitment and financial support of stakeholders towards the growth of the Polytechnic and commended the outgoing Governing Council, led by acting chairman; Dr Sayo Ajiboye as well as former chairman; Amb Egbekayode Ojo for their outstanding service and contributions during their tenure.


The Association further appealed to sons and daughters of Imesi-Ile, both at home and in the diaspora, to support the new Governing Council and contribute to the continued development of the institution.


The announcement was contained in a statement jointly signed by IPA General Secretary; Mr Sola Oluwadare  and IPA President; Barr Sola Agbeluyi who congratulated the newly appointed Council members and wished them a successful and impactful tenure.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

  By Abdulahi Musa  The Accord Party has won the governorship election at the polling unit of former Osun Deputy Governor and ex-National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore. Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit. The development marks another early gain for Accord as the collation of results from polling units across Osun State continues.
