Kabayel Challenges Anthony Joshua to World Heavyweight Title Fight

World Boxing Council (WBC) heavyweight champion Agit Kabayel has thrown down the gauntlet to British-Nigerian boxing star Anthony Joshua, saying he is ready to defend his title against the former two-time world champion once Joshua settles his long-awaited rivalry with Tyson Fury. 


Joshua and Fury are expected to meet in a blockbuster heavyweight clash in November, although the fight has yet to be officially confirmed. Before then, both fighters are scheduled to return to the ring later this month, with Fury taking on Mariusz Wach in Thailand on July 24 and Joshua facing Kristian Prenga in Saudi Arabia a day later. 


Speaking to Sky Sports, Kabayel said he would gladly wait for the outcome of the Joshua-Fury showdown before offering the winner a shot at the WBC heavyweight crown.


"Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua, when you think you have a chance to become a three-time world champion, let's do it. Kabayel will wait for you," the German champion said. He added that fans deserve to see Joshua and Fury settle their rivalry first before either fighter faces him for the title. 


Kabayel also suggested that a potential title fight could be staged either in Germany or the United Kingdom, describing it as a major event capable of filling a stadium. 


The German was recently elevated from interim to full WBC heavyweight champion after Oleksandr Usyk vacated his world titles, opening up fresh opportunities in the heavyweight division. If Joshua defeats Prenga and later overcomes Fury, he could be in line for a third world title reign with Kabayel standing in his way.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

  By Abdulahi Musa  The Accord Party has won the governorship election at the polling unit of former Osun Deputy Governor and ex-National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore. Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit.
