Mark-Led ADC Wins in Court as Atiku Sets Sights on 2027 Presidency

Atiku Abubakar has declared that he remains committed to contesting the 2027 presidential election, following a court judgment affirming the leadership of the African Democratic Congress led by David Mark.

The former vice president described the ruling as a victory for democracy and the rule of law, saying it had removed uncertainty over the party's leadership and strengthened the ADC's position ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Atiku said the judgment would allow the opposition to focus on building a united platform capable of offering Nigerians an alternative to the current administration. He reiterated his resolve to work with other opposition leaders to challenge the ruling party at the polls.

The court dismissed attempts to challenge the legitimacy of the David Mark-led leadership, effectively recognising it as the valid executive of the party. The decision is expected to boost ongoing coalition efforts among opposition politicians preparing for the 2027 elections.

Reacting to the verdict, Atiku urged party members and supporters to remain united, insisting that the focus should now shift to strengthening the ADC and mobilising Nigerians ahead of the next presidential election.

He maintained that the opposition would continue to pursue democratic means to achieve political change, expressing confidence that Nigerians would decide the country's future through the ballot in 2027.
