Mmesoma’s Three-Year JAMB Ban Over 2023 UTME Result Forgery Expires This July

The three-year ban imposed by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Anambra candidate Ejikeme Mmesoma over the manipulation of her 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result is expected to expire this July, making her eligible to participate in future UTME examinations. 


Mmesoma became the centre of national controversy in July 2023 after claiming she scored 362 in the UTME and was the highest-performing candidate in the country. However, JAMB maintained that her authentic score was 249, accusing her of altering her result using a fake result template that had been discontinued by the examination body. 


Following an internal investigation, JAMB withdrew her 2023 UTME result and imposed a three-year ban from sitting its examinations. The board insisted its computer-based testing system had not been compromised and described the forged result as a deliberate act of falsification. 


A panel of inquiry established by the Anambra State Government later concluded that Mmesoma had manipulated her result. She subsequently admitted to altering the score, apologised to JAMB and Nigerians, and appeared before a House of Representatives panel to express remorse over the incident. 


The expiration of the sanction this July effectively brings the disciplinary measure to an end, allowing Mmesoma to register for subsequent UTME examinations if she chooses to continue her pursuit of tertiary education.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

  By Abdulahi Musa  The Accord Party has won the governorship election at the polling unit of former Osun Deputy Governor and ex-National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore. Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit.
