Nigerian Troops Crush Terrorists' Operations, Rescue 13 Kidnap Victims In Zamfara

Troops of the Joint Task Force (North West), Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 13 kidnapped victims during separate intelligence-led operations in Anka and Kaura Namoda Local Government Areas of Zamfara State, dealing another blow to terrorist groups operating in the region.


The successful operations, carried out by troops under Sector 2 of the Joint Task Force, also led to the recovery of two vehicles allegedly used by the fleeing terrorists. 


According to the Media Information Officer of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the first operation took place in Bagega, Anka Local Government Area, after troops received credible intelligence about armed terrorists moving on motorcycles towards Tungan Kudaduku.


Acting on the intelligence and supported by real-time surveillance, the troops tracked and engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun battle. Overwhelmed by the troops' superior firepower, the terrorists fled the scene, abandoning their mission. 


A follow-up search of the area led to the discovery of a makeshift terrorist camp where five kidnapped victims were found and rescued unharmed.


In a separate operation at Ungwan Rogo in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area, troops responded to intelligence on terrorist activities in the community. During the operation, soldiers engaged the terrorists in another firefight, forcing them to retreat and abandon their captives.


The troops rescued eight additional kidnapped victims and recovered two vehicles believed to have been used by the terrorists during their operations. 


Lieutenant Colonel Danja said all 13 rescued victims had been handed over to the appropriate authorities for medical attention, profiling, and reunification with their families.


He reaffirmed the military's commitment to sustaining offensive operations across the North-West, stressing that troops would continue to dominate the operational environment, deny terrorists freedom of movement, and intensify efforts to restore lasting peace and security in Zamfara and neighbouring states.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area.
