Obi Donates ₦10 Million To Anambra Specialist Hospital To Mark 65th Birthday

Former Anambra State Governor and 2027 presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has donated ₦10 million to a specialist hospital in Anambra State as part of activities marking his 65th birthday.


Obi made the donation to the Good Hope Specialist Hospital in Isulo, Orumba South Local Government Area, during a visit to the health facility, where he reiterated his long-standing commitment to improving healthcare, education and poverty alleviation in Nigeria. 


According to the former governor, investing in healthcare remains one of the most effective ways of improving the quality of life of citizens and building a productive society.


He said the donation was driven by his conviction that faith-based organisations have consistently demonstrated the capacity to deliver quality healthcare when adequately supported.


Obi expressed confidence that the hospital would become a major healthcare centre serving communities across Anambra and beyond, noting that similar institutions he supported during his tenure as governor had grown into centres of excellence.


He also urged political leaders to prioritise investments in healthcare and education, describing both sectors as critical to national development and human capital growth. 


Receiving the donation, the Chairman of the Aguata Diocesan Hospital Board, Archdeacon M.C. Obi, thanked the former governor for his continued support for humanitarian and healthcare projects.


He said the Anglican Diocese plans to transform the Good Hope Specialist Hospital into a comprehensive medical complex with schools of nursing, midwifery and health technology to strengthen healthcare delivery and train future medical professionals. 


The donation formed part of Obi's birthday activities, which he said were focused on giving back to society through support for institutions providing essential services rather than personal celebrations.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

  By Abdulahi Musa  The Accord Party has won the governorship election at the polling unit of former Osun Deputy Governor and ex-National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore. Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit.
