Oloyede Hands Over as Aina Assumes Office as New JAMB Registrar

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has formally ushered in a new leadership as its outgoing Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, handed over the affairs of the examination body to his successor, Prof. Segun Aina, following the expiration of his tenure.


The official handover ceremony was held on Friday, July 31, and streamed live on JAMB's official social media platforms, marking the end of Oloyede's tenure and the beginning of a new chapter in the administration of the board. 


In a statement announcing the event, JAMB described the transition as a significant milestone in the institution's leadership journey and invited members of the public, stakeholders, candidates and education enthusiasts to witness the ceremony.


The board stated that the event marked the formal transfer of leadership from Prof. Oloyede, who has served as Registrar since August 2016, to Prof. Aina, recently appointed by President Bola Tinubu to lead the examination body. 


Prof. Aina, a Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, is expected to build on the reforms introduced under Oloyede's administration. According to the Presidency, he brings extensive experience in digital infrastructure, national examination systems and institutional reforms to the role. 


Oloyede's tenure was widely noted for major reforms in JAMB's operations, including improvements in transparency, accountability, digital innovation and examination administration. His tenure officially ended on July 31 after serving two terms as Registrar.


With the handover concluded, Prof. Segun Aina now assumes full responsibility as the new Registrar of JAMB, becoming the latest head of Nigeria's foremost tertiary admissions examination body.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

  By Abdulahi Musa  The Accord Party has won the governorship election at the polling unit of former Osun Deputy Governor and ex-National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore. Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit.
