Ooni's Elder Brother, Prince Tunji Ogunwusi, Dies At 58

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has been thrown into mourning following the death of his elder brother, Prince Adetunji Ogunwusi, popularly known as "Dodo."


Prince Tunji reportedly died on Saturday at the age of 58 after a brief illness. Family sources said he had been receiving treatment for an undisclosed ailment before his passing. 


The deceased was a respected member of the Ogunwusi royal family and was widely known within and outside Ile-Ife for his business interests and active participation in community and royal affairs. Before his younger brother ascended the throne as the Ooni of Ife in 2015, Prince Tunji was regarded as one of the notable princes from the royal family. 


His death has attracted an outpouring of condolences from traditional rulers, political leaders, associates, and residents of Ile-Ife, many of whom described him as humble, generous, and deeply committed to the progress of his community. 


Although the Ooni's palace had yet to issue a detailed official statement at the time of filing this report, preparations are expected to begin for traditional funeral rites in accordance with Yoruba customs.


Prince Tunji is survived by his immediate family and relatives, including the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

  By Abdulahi Musa  The Accord Party has won the governorship election at the polling unit of former Osun Deputy Governor and ex-National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore. Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit.
