Osun 2026: APC Unveil National Campaign Council, Uzodimma Chairs, Akpabio and Abbas Join as Co-Chairmen

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the composition of its National Campaign Council for the Osun State Governorship Election scheduled for Saturday, 15 August 2026, as the party intensifies preparations for the crucial poll.


According to the official notice issued by the party's National Secretariat in Abuja, the National Campaign Council will be inaugurated on Tuesday, 28 July 2026, at the Transcorp Hilton Event Centre, Abuja, by 12:00 noon.




Leading the campaign council is the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, who will serve as Chairman. The council also features a high-powered leadership team comprising Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, as Co-Chairmen. Former Kano State Governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje will serve as Deputy Chairman, while Senator Basiru Ajibola has been named Secretary.


The extensive council comprises  members, drawn from across the country, including serving governors, former governors, senators, members of the House of Representatives, ministers, party leaders, and other key stakeholders. Prominent figures on the list include Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Dapo Abiodun, Biodun Oyebanji, Uba Sani, Ahmed Aliyu, Francis Nwifuru, Hyacinth Alia, Monday Okpebholo, and several other APC leaders.



To ensure an effective and coordinated campaign, the party also constituted several specialised sub-committees to oversee critical aspects of the electioneering process. These include committees on Mobilisation, Media and Publicity, Security, Logistics, Youth, Women, Finance, Election Monitoring, and Stakeholder Engagement.


The inauguration of the council is expected to officially kick-start the APC's nationwide campaign strategy ahead of the 15 August 2026 Osun governorship election, with party leaders expected to outline plans aimed at securing victory at the polls.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

  By Abdulahi Musa  The Accord Party has won the governorship election at the polling unit of former Osun Deputy Governor and ex-National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore. Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit.
