Osun 2026: I’ll Deliver Stable Electricity, Create 20,000 Jobs in First 100 Days – ADC's Najeem Salam

The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the forthcoming Osun State governorship election, Rt. Hon. Najeem Salam, popularly known as Iwaloye, has pledged to provide stable electricity across the state if elected governor, saying reliable power supply is the foundation for economic growth and job creation.


Speaking during a governorship debate organised by BBC News Yoruba on Friday, Salam said his administration would prioritize electricity to attract local and foreign investors into Osun State.




According to him, improved power supply would stimulate industrial development, encourage businesses to thrive, and create employment opportunities for thousands of young people across the state.


He pointed to states such as Abia and Niger, which have taken steps towards improving electricity supply, noting that Osun could achieve similar success with the right leadership and political will.


The ADC candidate further promised to create 20,000 jobs within his first 100 days in office, describing youth employment as one of the immediate priorities of his proposed administration.


Salam said the jobs would be generated through investments, support for small and medium-scale enterprises, agriculture, technology, and other productive sectors capable of expanding the state's economy.


Responding to a question on political godfathers, the former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly declared that he has no political godfather, insisting that the people of Osun State are his only godfathers.


He pledged to run a people-oriented government built on accountability, transparency, and inclusive development if given the mandate in the August 15 governorship election.


"I have no godfather. The people of Osun are my godfathers, and I will serve them faithfully," Salam said, assuring residents that his administration would focus on policies that improve their standard of living and deliver sustainable development across the state.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area.
