Osun 2026: INEC Begins Distribution of Permanent Voter Cards

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the commencement of Permanent Voter Card (PVC) distribution for eligible voters ahead of the 2026 Osun State governorship election.


In a press release signed by the Osun State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Babalola, on Monday, the commission said the exercise is targeted at newly registered voters, those who applied for transfer of registration, replacement of lost or damaged PVCs, and voters who updated their records during the recently concluded Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.


According to INEC, the distribution will begin at the 332 Registration Areas across Osun State from Wednesday, July 22, to Tuesday, July 28, 2026, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. daily, including weekends.


The commission said that after the first phase, PVC collection will continue at all INEC Local Government Area offices across the state from Wednesday, July 29, to Friday, August 7, 2026, within the same hours.


INEC urged all eligible voters to take advantage of the exercise and collect their PVCs promptly, stressing that the Permanent Voter Card remains the only valid means of accreditation for voting on election day.


The electoral body also disclosed that PVCs left unclaimed during previous voter registration exercises would be made available for collection during the distribution period.


Reiterating its guidelines, INEC warned that PVC collection is strictly a personal exercise, noting that collection by proxy will not be permitted under any circumstance and constitutes an offence.


The commission reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a free, fair, credible, inclusive and transparent governorship election in Osun State and encouraged members of the public to contact the nearest INEC Local Government office or the Osun State INEC office through its official communication channels for further enquiries.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

  By Abdulahi Musa  The Accord Party has won the governorship election at the polling unit of former Osun Deputy Governor and ex-National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore. Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit.
