Osun 2026: Senator Fadahunsi's Aide Resigns, Cites Conscience and Public Interest

As political activities intensify ahead of the August 15, 2026 Osun State governorship election, a legislative aide to Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi has resigned from his position, citing his conscience, fear of God, and commitment to the welfare of his people.


In a resignation letter dated July 30, 2026, Hon. Babafemi Bisi Olusola, who served as Legislative Aide (L.A.1) to Senator Fadahunsi representing Osun East Senatorial District, formally announced his resignation with immediate effect.


Addressing the letter to the senator at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja, Olusola expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve under Fadahunsi's leadership, describing the experience as invaluable.


"I sincerely appreciate the opportunity and privilege of serving under your leadership. I remain grateful for the confidence you reposed in me and for the invaluable experience gained during my time in your office," he wrote.


Explaining the reason for his decision, the former aide said the move followed deep personal reflection.


"This decision was not made lightly. However, after deep reflection, I have resolved to step down in obedience to my conscience, my fear of God, and my conviction that it is in the best interest of the good people of Oriade Local Government, whose welfare must remain my foremost consideration," the letter stated.


Olusola thanked the senator once again for the opportunity to serve and prayed for God's continued strength, wisdom and good health for him.


The resignation comes amid heightened political activities across Osun State as parties intensify campaigns and grassroots mobilisation ahead of the governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026.


While the resignation letter did not explicitly state the political role Olusola intends to play, it is understood that the decision is connected to the ongoing electioneering activities, allowing him to participate without the constraints of holding a legislative appointment.


The development is one of several political realignments being witnessed in the state as the race for the governorship gathers momentum.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

  By Abdulahi Musa  The Accord Party has won the governorship election at the polling unit of former Osun Deputy Governor and ex-National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore. Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit.
