Osun APC Demands SSG's Sack, Urges Adeleke to Cooperate with Police Probe

 The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Campaign Council has called on Governor Ademola Adeleke to immediately remove the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Chief Teslim Igbalaye, from office over allegations that a wanted suspect was arrested at his residence during a police operation. 


Addressing journalists in Osogbo on Thursday, the council, through its Head of Media and Publicity, Remi Omowaiye, urged the governor to allow security agencies to carry out an unhindered investigation into the matter. 


The APC alleged that Igbalaye harboured a suspect on the police watchlist and argued that retaining him in office would undermine public confidence in the state's commitment to justice and accountability. The party further claimed that Governor Adeleke was attempting to shield individuals under investigation, describing such actions as inconsistent with the principles of the rule of law. 


Omowaiye said that if the governor was not supporting criminality, he should immediately relieve the SSG of his duties and cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies to ensure that investigations proceed without interference. He also urged residents of the state to prevail on the governor to refrain from protecting individuals wanted by security agencies. 


The APC commended officers of the Nigeria Police Force, the Osun State Command and the Inspector-General of Police's Special Squad for what it described as professionalism and commitment in tackling criminal activities in the state. 


Reacting to the APC's demand, the Director of Strategic Communication of the Imole Campaign Council, Jamiu Olawumi, dismissed the call for the SSG's removal as politically motivated. He described Igbalaye as a respected legal practitioner and public servant whose record of service could not be diminished by what he termed "insinuations" aimed at tarnishing his image. 


Chief Igbalaye was arrested during a police raid on his residence on Wednesday but regained his freedom on Thursday after being released by the police. Authorities had said the operation led to the arrest of a suspect allegedly on the police watchlist, alongside the recovery of cash and other items from the premises.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

  By Abdulahi Musa  The Accord Party has won the governorship election at the polling unit of former Osun Deputy Governor and ex-National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore. Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area.
