Police Release Osun SSG Amid Public Pressure, Adeleke Camp Demands Freedom for Other Political Detainees

The campaign organisation of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has welcomed the release of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Chief Teslim Igbalaye, from police custody, describing the development as a victory for the people while calling for the immediate and unconditional release of other political detainees.


In a statement issued on Thursday, the spokesperson for the Imole Campaign Council, Pelumi Olajengbesi, expressed appreciation to the Inspector General of Police and the Commissioner of Police in Osun State for what he described as yielding to public pressure and responding to widespread calls for Igbalaye's release.


The campaign council maintained that while it was pleased with the SSG's release, the continued detention of other political suspects remained unacceptable, urging the police to free them without delay.


According to the statement, the Nigeria Police Force best serves the country when it upholds justice, the rule of law and resists oppression rather than being perceived as a tool for political intimidation.


The council also hailed Igbalaye's return, describing his ordeal as a sacrifice in defence of the interests of the people of Osun State.


"Welcome back, Chief Teslim Igbalaye. Your courage and sacrifice for the people of Osun State will not be forgotten. Our SSG is out, back and solid," the statement concluded.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

  By Abdulahi Musa  The Accord Party has won the governorship election at the polling unit of former Osun Deputy Governor and ex-National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore. Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit.
