Presidency Letter Fooled Me Into Meeting DG of Non-Existent Presidential Council — Benjamin Kalu

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has revealed that he unknowingly met with Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew, the man accused of posing as the Director-General of the non-existent Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).

Kalu disclosed that the meeting took place in his office after he received what appeared to be an official letter bearing the Presidency's insignia. Believing the correspondence to be genuine, the Deputy Speaker granted Adeyemi an audience without suspecting that the organisation he represented was allegedly fictitious. 

The revelation comes amid growing controversy surrounding Adeyemi, who has been accused by the Presidency of forging official documents and falsely presenting himself as the head of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council and the Presidential Economic Advisory Council—bodies the Federal Government insists do not exist. 

According to the Presidency, investigations by security agencies led to Adeyemi's arrest after complaints emerged over his activities. Authorities alleged that he used forged government documents to obtain meetings with senior public officials, open bank accounts, and conduct official engagements under the guise of a presidential appointee. The matter is currently before the Federal High Court, where he is facing multiple charges, including forgery, impersonation and obtaining by false pretence. 

Kalu's account has further highlighted the extent to which the alleged impersonation scheme penetrated high levels of government, with several officials reportedly receiving correspondence that appeared authentic before the Presidency publicly disowned the purported council.
