Tinubu to Attend UN General Assembly in September

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has confirmed that he will personally attend the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), scheduled to hold in New York, United States, in September.


Nigeria's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Jimoh Ibrahim, disclosed this on Wednesday, stating that the President's participation underscores Nigeria's renewed commitment to global diplomacy and international cooperation. 


According to Ibrahim, Tinubu is expected to address world leaders during the high-level General Debate, where he will present Nigeria's position on key global issues, including economic reforms, peace and security, climate change, sustainable development, and international partnerships. 


The ambassador also revealed that the President is expected to hold a series of bilateral meetings with several heads of state, government officials, investors, and development partners on the sidelines of the Assembly. These engagements are aimed at attracting foreign investment, strengthening diplomatic ties, and advancing Nigeria's economic interests. 


Tinubu's attendance marks his return to the global gathering after previous occasions when Nigeria was represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima. The participation is expected to provide an opportunity for the President to showcase the progress of his administration's economic reforms and seek greater international collaboration. 


The United Nations General Assembly, held annually at the UN Headquarters in New York, brings together leaders from the 193 member states to deliberate on pressing global challenges and chart collective responses to issues affecting the international community.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

  By Abdulahi Musa  The Accord Party has won the governorship election at the polling unit of former Osun Deputy Governor and ex-National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore. Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit.
