Uzodimma Declares Imo 'One-Party State,' Says Residents Have Chosen Tinubu for 2027

Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors' Forum (PGF), Hope Uzodimma, has declared that Imo has become a "one-party state," claiming that residents have already resolved to vote massively for President Bola Tinubu's re-election in the 2027 presidential election. 


Uzodimma made the declaration while hosting members of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors Media Team, who were in the state to inspect projects executed by the federal and state governments.


The governor asserted that political opposition in Imo had effectively collapsed, boasting that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) now dominates the state's political landscape.


"Our people have already decided that they want President Tinubu back as the president because without him and his policies and programmes, this environment we are enjoying today would have been very impossible to achieve," Uzodimma said. 


He further argued that Tinubu's economic reforms, particularly the removal of fuel subsidy, had significantly increased allocations to states, enabling governors to execute more development projects.


Recalling the financial situation when he assumed office in January 2020, Uzodimma claimed Imo had barely enough funds to operate after paying workers' salaries, contrasting that period with what he described as improved revenue under the Tinubu administration. 


The governor urged members of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors to intensify campaigns for the President across the country, expressing confidence that APC governors would mobilise support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 polls.


Uzodimma's remarks come as political campaigns and endorsements for the 2027 general election continue to gather momentum, despite the election still being months away. His claim that Imo is now a "one-party state" is likely to draw scrutiny from opposition parties, which continue to maintain structures and elected representatives in the state and elsewhere.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

  By Abdulahi Musa  The Accord Party has won the governorship election at the polling unit of former Osun Deputy Governor and ex-National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore. Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area.
