2027: Adeleke Campaign Spokesman Targets Long-Serving Osun Rep Oke

The spokesperson for the Ademola Adeleke Governorship Campaign Council, Pelumi Olajengbesi, has declared his intention to defeat the member representing Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Oluwole Oke, in the 2027 general election.

Olajengbesi, who is the Accord Party candidate for the federal constituency, said the outcome of the recent Osun State governorship election had strengthened his conviction that voters in the constituency were ready for a change in representation.

Oke, a member of the All Progressives Congress, has represented the Oriade/Obokun constituency in the House of Representatives since 2003.

Speaking in a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday, Olajengbesi argued that the results of the governorship election demonstrated a shift in political support across the two local government areas that make up the federal constituency.

According to him, Accord secured 21,343 votes against APC’s 14,863 votes in Oriade Local Government Area, while APC polled 16,120 votes against Accord’s 12,023 votes in Obokun.

He said the combined figures gave Accord 33,366 votes, compared with APC’s 30,983 votes, representing a margin of 2,383 votes in favour of Accord.

Olajengbesi said the result was evidence that the electorate was prepared to embrace a new political direction ahead of the 2027 National Assembly election.

“I defeated Oluwole Oke in the Osun governorship election,” he said, adding that his ambition was driven by what he described as changing political dynamics and grassroots demands for fresh representation.

He also criticised what he described as prolonged political dominance in the constituency, arguing that Oke’s continuous representation since 2003 had resulted in what he called “stagnant ideas” and limited opportunities for new leadership.

“My ambition rests on several strategic arguments, shifting political dynamics, and grassroots narratives. I’m a necessary intervention against political monopoly,” Olajengbesi said.

He maintained that his candidacy was aimed at ending what he described as prolonged political dominance and providing what he called fresh and effective representation for the people of Oriade/Obokun at the National Assembly.

His declaration comes as political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections intensify, with political parties and aspirants beginning to position themselves for the forthcoming polls.
