2027: Olajegbensi Vows to Prioritise Climate Action, Environmental Development in Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency

The 2027 Accord candidate for Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency of Osun State, Barrister Pelumi Olajegbensi, has pledged to give serious attention to climate action and other environmental challenges affecting communities across the constituency.

Olajegbensi made the commitment while responding to a call by the founder of the International Climate Change Development Initiative, Olumide Idowu, who urged the candidate to support climate action in Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency. 

Idowu, in an X post, drew attention to the numerous environmental challenges confronting the constituency and appealed to Olajegbensi to make climate and environmental issues part of his agenda.

“Please support #ClimateAction in Oriade/Obokun. Lot of environmental issues need to be addressed,” Idowu said, while expressing his hope that the candidate would remain committed to the cause.

Responding, Olajegbensi assured that his commitment to improving the lives of constituents would not be limited to political promises, stressing that he was prepared to explore every viable idea capable of delivering tangible benefits to the people.

“Please rest assured I am not making an empty political promise when I say even now that we will chase down every idea, thought, and concept that will benefit our people—greatly or even marginally,” he stated.

The Accord candidate said he was determined to challenge the culture of settling for the bare minimum, adding that his ambition was to promote a broader vision for the development and wellbeing of the people.

“I am obsessed with making the point that our people's lives can be better and that we can go beyond bare minimums and dream big,” Olajegbensi added.

He also thanked Idowu for drawing his attention to what he described as an often-overlooked challenge, while calling for continued engagement and accountability from members of the public.

Olajegbensi said stakeholders and citizens should continue to scrutinise political leaders and hold them accountable for commitments made to the people.

The exchange has highlighted the growing call for environmental sustainability and climate-conscious development to form part of the political conversation ahead of the 2027 elections in the Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency.
