2027: Tinubu Heads to Europe for Three-Week Leave

 President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commenced a three-week leave in Europe, the Presidency has announced.


The development was disclosed by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.


Tinubu’s departure comes as political activities and preparations for the 2027 general elections continue to intensify across the country.


According to the Presidency, the President is expected to spend the period in Europe as part of his leave, although details of his itinerary were not immediately disclosed.


The trip comes against the backdrop of increasing political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with the ruling All Progressives Congress and opposition parties stepping up their preparations for the next electoral contest.


Tinubu, who was elected President in 2023, is expected to seek re-election in 2027, while several opposition politicians have also begun positioning themselves for the presidential race.


The President’s latest foreign trip is also coming amid renewed public debate over his overseas travels and the extent to which such trips affect his official responsibilities.


The Presidency has previously described Tinubu’s foreign trips as serving official, diplomatic, economic and personal purposes, depending on the circumstances.


The three-week European leave is expected to precede the next phase of intensified political activities as parties and their candidates continue to mobilise ahead of the 2027 elections.


Tinubu’s administration has continued to face political pressure from opposition figures, including former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, who is seeking to challenge the ruling APC in the 2027 presidential contest.


The President is expected to resume his official duties after the leave, with attention likely to return to governance, economic reforms and preparations within the APC for the forthcoming election.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

  By Abdulahi Musa  The Accord Party has won the governorship election at the polling unit of former Osun Deputy Governor and ex-National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore. Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit. The development marks another early gain for Accord as the collation of results from polling units across Osun State continues.
