2027 Will Be My Final Presidential Bid — 79-Year-Old Atiku

Former Vice President and presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, Atiku Abubakar, has declared that the 2027 presidential election will be his final attempt to become President of Nigeria.


Atiku, 79, made the declaration amid preparations for the 2027 general elections, effectively ruling out any intention to seek the presidency beyond 2027.


The former Vice President has contested the Nigerian presidency on multiple occasions but has yet to secure victory. His latest declaration signals that he would not pursue another presidential bid should he fail to emerge victorious in the 2027 election.


Atiku’s decision comes as political activities and alignments intensify ahead of the 2027 presidential contest, with opposition figures and political parties positioning themselves for the election.


The ADC presidential candidate has continued to advocate for a political realignment aimed at defeating the ruling All Progressives Congress in 2027.


By describing 2027 as his “last” attempt, Atiku has now drawn a clear line under his long-standing ambition to lead Nigeria through the presidency.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

  By Abdulahi Musa  The Accord Party has won the governorship election at the polling unit of former Osun Deputy Governor and ex-National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore. Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit. The development marks another early gain for Accord as the collation of results from polling units across Osun State continues.
