Adeleke Appoints Adekunle Alao as Osun SUBEB Executive Chairman

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has approved the appointment of Hon. Adekunle Adegboyega Alao as the Executive Chairman of the Osun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).


The appointment was conveyed in a letter dated July 1, 2026, and signed by the Secretary to the Osun State Government, Alhaji Teslim Igbalaye.


According to the letter, Alao’s appointment takes effect from July 1, 2026.


The state government, while congratulating the new SUBEB chairman, expressed confidence in his wealth of experience and charged him to deploy his expertise towards repositioning and improving basic education across the state.


The appointment comes as part of the Adeleke administration’s efforts to strengthen the state’s basic education sector and improve the quality of education delivered to pupils across Osun.


The government further wished Alao a successful tenure in office and urged him to justify the confidence reposed in him through effective leadership of the board.


Alao’s new responsibility places him at the helm of SUBEB, the agency responsible for coordinating and implementing policies and programmes relating to basic education in Osun State.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

  By Abdulahi Musa  The Accord Party has won the governorship election at the polling unit of former Osun Deputy Governor and ex-National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore. Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit. The development marks another early gain for Accord as the collation of results from polling units across Osun State continues.
