Adeleke Inaugurates Reconstituted UNIOSUN Governing Council, Tasks Members With Greater Excellence

 Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has inaugurated the reconstituted Governing Council of Osun State University (UNIOSUN), charging its members to strengthen the institution’s governance and advance its position among Nigeria’s leading state-owned universities.


Adeleke, who disclosed this in a statement on the inauguration, said the move was part of his administration’s renewed commitment to improving the university’s academic standing, research capacity, innovation and overall development.


The governor commended the management and outgoing council of UNIOSUN for what he described as significant progress and landmark achievements recorded by the institution.


According to him, the development demonstrated what could be achieved when the university enjoyed stability, commitment and a shared vision for excellence.


Adeleke announced the retention of Professor Adewale Abiodun Oladipo as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, describing his continued leadership as necessary for institutional continuity and experience.


He charged Oladipo and other members of the reconstituted council to maintain a harmonious relationship with the university management while operating within the provisions of the law.


“I charged him and all members of the reconstituted Council to work harmoniously with the University Management, guided by the law, mutual respect and the common objective of taking UNIOSUN to greater heights,” Adeleke said.


The governor assured the institution of continued support from his administration, particularly in areas of academic development, research, innovation and infrastructure.


He described UNIOSUN as more than an institution of higher learning, saying the university remained an enduring investment of the people of Osun State and a source of pride to the state.


Adeleke expressed confidence that the reconstituted council would consolidate the gains recorded by the university and position it for greater excellence and international recognition.


“UNIOSUN is more than a university; it is one of the enduring investments of the people of Osun State and a source of pride for us all,” he said.


He urged the council and university management to remain focused on producing graduates capable of contributing meaningfully to the development of society.


The governor also prayed for continued growth and progress for the institution, expressing optimism that UNIOSUN would strengthen its reputation as a leading centre of learning and innovation in Nigeria.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

  By Abdulahi Musa  The Accord Party has won the governorship election at the polling unit of former Osun Deputy Governor and ex-National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore. Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit. The development marks another early gain for Accord as the collation of results from polling units across Osun State continues.
