Adeleke to Tinubu: Stop APC Violence, Protect Osun Democracy

Governor Ademola Adeleke on Monday took his statewide campaign to Olorunda Local Government Area, where he addressed a mammoth crowd of supporters ahead of the August 15 Osun State governorship election.


Speaking at the campaign rally, the governor appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to urgently intervene in what he described as a growing wave of political intimidation and violence in the state. Adeleke alleged that members of the Accord Party had been killed by suspected APC thugs, while several Accord leaders and supporters were being unlawfully arrested by what he called compromised police officers.


The governor also called on the President to caution key political figures, including former Governor Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, Senator Francis Fadahunsi, and Hon. Wole Oke, urging them to ensure peace and uphold democratic principles throughout the election period.


Adeleke assured supporters that, despite the alleged intimidation, the people of Osun remained resolute and would not be silenced. He declared that any attempt to manipulate or rig the forthcoming governorship election would fail because, according to him, the electorate had already made up their minds.


He further urged President Tinubu to guarantee a free, fair, peaceful, and credible electoral process, stressing that the integrity of the poll would strengthen Nigeria's democracy and preserve public confidence in the nation's electoral system.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

  By Abdulahi Musa  The Accord Party has won the governorship election at the polling unit of former Osun Deputy Governor and ex-National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore. Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit.
