Adeleke Wins 19 LGAs as Oyebamiji Takes 11 in Osun Governorship Election

Osun State Governor and Accord Party candidate, Ademola Adeleke, has won 19 of the state’s 30 Local Government Areas in the governorship election held on Saturday.


His closest challenger, the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, secured victory in the remaining 11 Local Government Areas, according to results announced during the collation exercise.


Adeleke is awaiting the official declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission at the state collation centre in Osogbo.


Although 15 political parties participated in the election, the contest was largely dominated by the Accord Party and the APC. The African Democratic Congress candidate, Najeem Salaam, finished a distant third with 14,989 votes.


Among the local government areas won by Adeleke were Ede South, Ife North, Ilesa West, Ife Central, Osogbo, Oriade, Odo-Otin, Ife East, Ifelodun, Iwo, Ede North, Ila, Ayedire and Egbedore.


Oyebamiji, meanwhile, won several LGAs including Ilesa East, Boripe, Irepodun, Obokun, Atakumosa West, Irewole, Atakumosa East, Isokan, Olaoluwa, Ife South and Olorunda.


The results showed a closely fought contest in several parts of the state, with both major candidates recording significant victories across different regions.


The final outcome and winner of the election will be confirmed by INEC after the completion of the collation and official declaration at the Osogbo collation centre.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

  By Abdulahi Musa  The Accord Party has won the governorship election at the polling unit of former Osun Deputy Governor and ex-National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore. Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit.
