Aiyedaade Youths Honour Osun NYCN Chairman Akinbode with Distinguished Leadership Award

The Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Osun State Chapter, Comrade Akinbode Olakolupo Oluwasegun, has been honoured with the Distinguished Leadership Award by the Aiyedaade Youths Council in recognition of his exemplary leadership, commitment to youth development, and unwavering dedication to grassroots empowerment.


The award was presented during the Aiyedaade Youth Summit 2026 held on Saturday by the NYCN Coordinator, Aiyedaade Local Government Branch, before a gathering of traditional rulers, government officials, youth leaders, civil society stakeholders, and other distinguished personalities.


Dignitaries at the event included the Olufi of Gbongan, the Kabiyesi of Orile-Owu, Commissioner II of the Osun State Civil Service Commission, the Special Adviser to the Governor, as well as several notable leaders from across the state.


Presenting the award, the NYCN Coordinator for Aiyedaade Local Government described Comrade Akinbode as a visionary and transformational youth leader whose administration has consistently championed initiatives that promote youth participation in governance, leadership development, entrepreneurship, civic engagement, and community service across Osun State.


According to the coordinator, the honour was in recognition of Akinbode's remarkable contributions to youth advancement and his continued support for the growth and activities of the Aiyedaade Branch of the National Youth Council of Nigeria.




"This award reflects our appreciation for a leader who has remained committed to empowering young people, strengthening youth structures, and creating opportunities for the next generation of leaders," the coordinator said.


In his acceptance speech, Comrade Akinbode expressed gratitude to the organisers and the youths of Aiyedaade for the recognition, describing the honour as a motivation to deepen his commitment to selfless service.


He said the award was not merely a personal achievement but a reminder of the collective responsibility to continue advocating policies and programmes that would expand opportunities for young people across Osun State.


Akinbode urged youths to embrace education, skills acquisition, entrepreneurship, innovation, and active participation in community development, stressing that sustainable development can only be achieved when young people are equipped to become agents of positive change.


The summit, themed "Empowering Aiyedaade Youths for Leadership and Community Development," provided a platform for robust discussions on practical strategies for enhancing youth inclusion, leadership, economic empowerment, and sustainable community development.


Participants at the summit reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration among government, traditional institutions, civil society organisations, and youth groups to advance peace, leadership excellence, and socio-economic development in Aiyedaade Local Government and across Osun State.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

  By Abdulahi Musa  The Accord Party has won the governorship election at the polling unit of former Osun Deputy Governor and ex-National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore. Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit. The development marks another early gain for Accord as the collation of results from polling units across Osun State continues.
