APC Constitutes 2027 Presidential Campaign Council, Names Yari DG, Uzodimma Secretary

The All Progressives Congress has constituted its Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 general elections, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima emerging as chairman and vice chairman of the council, respectively.


The list, released on Saturday, also named APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, as vice chairman, while former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, was appointed Director-General of the campaign.


Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State will serve as Secretary of the council, while the APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Bashiru, and Hadiza Bala-Usman were appointed Deputy Secretary and Assistant Secretary respectively.


The council will be supported by a team of senior political advisers comprising former APC National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande; former Ogun State Governor, Chief Segun Osoba; Senator Rochas Okorocha; former APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu; and Senator Florence Ita-Giwa.


Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, and Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, were appointed Deputy Directors-General for the southern and northern blocs of the campaign.


They will work alongside Senator Opeyemi Bamidele and Deputy Senate President, Senator Jibrin Barau, in coordinating the respective zones.


Former Edo State Governor, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, will serve as Deputy Director-General in charge of mobilisation, while the President's Chief of Staff will oversee administration as Deputy Director-General.


James Abiodun Faleke, who played a key role in the APC's 2023 presidential campaign, returns as Deputy Director-General for Election Planning, Coordination and Monitoring.


Faleke will coordinate the zonal election directors, including Senator Olushola Adeyeye for the South-West, Dr Ngozi Olejeme for the South-South, Senator Uche Ekwunife for the South-East, Muntaqha Rabe for the North-West, Ahmed Muhammed Ketso for the North-Central and Senator Sani Danladi for the North-East.


The Election Planning Directorate will also have Stella Okotete, Engineer Abdullahi Garba Ramat and Audu Maikori as secretaries.


In the legal directorate, Muiz Adeyemi Banire was appointed Director, with Dr Liman Hassan and Babatunde Ogala serving as deputies. Other members include Attorney-General of the Federation, Prince Lateef Fagbemi; former Katsina State Governor, Ibrahim Shema; Worgu Boms and Dr Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh.


For media and strategic communication, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, was named Coordinating Director, alongside Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu.


Tunde Rahman, Sunday Dare, Daniel Bwala and Felix Morka were appointed Coordinating Deputy Directors in the media directorate.


Abdulaziz AbdulAziz, Temitope Ajayi, Arabinrin Aderonke and Frederick Nwabufor will serve as coordinating secretaries.


Segun Dada, who handled the New Media Directorate during the 2023 campaign, returns in the same capacity, with Solomon Arowolo appointed Secretary of the directorate.


The party also named five spokespersons for the campaign, led by Dele Alake. Others are Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu and Adamu Fanda.


In a charge to members of the council, President Tinubu urged them to work relentlessly towards securing victory for the APC in the January 2027 elections.


The President also encouraged directorate heads to bring other party members into the campaign structure, even if they were not included in the initial list.


Tinubu said the administration had delivered on its campaign promises and placed Nigeria on the path of economic progress, urging the campaign team to communicate the government's achievements to Nigerians.


“We have delivered on our campaign promises and set our country on a path of economic progress,” the President said.


He urged the campaign council to confidently showcase the administration's record, inspire hope among Nigerians and prevent what he described as attempts to take the country backwards.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

  By Abdulahi Musa  The Accord Party has won the governorship election at the polling unit of former Osun Deputy Governor and ex-National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore. Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit.
