APC Will Accept Osun Election Verdict If Poll Is Free, Fair — Ajibola Bashiru

The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Bashiru, has said the party will accept the outcome of the August 15 Osun State governorship election if the process is conducted freely, fairly and credibly.


Bashiru made the statement during an interview on Beyond the Headlines with Abosede Adeniran Aderemi, while expressing confidence that the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, would emerge victorious.


According to him, as democrats, APC members must be prepared to accept both victory and defeat, provided the election reflects the genuine will of the electorate.


He said the party would critically examine the result should its candidate lose but would ultimately respect the decision of the people.


“If indeed the will of the people is that our party did not win, of course we’ll move ahead and organise for another round of election,” Bashiru said.


The APC National Secretary also appealed to political parties, candidates and their supporters to maintain peace before, during and after the election, amid reports of violence in parts of the state during the campaign.


He described the APC as a party committed to peace and urged all stakeholders to allow voters to exercise their constitutional right without intimidation or harassment.


Bashiru further expressed confidence in the preparedness of security agencies, noting that preventive measures were being taken to safeguard the electoral process.


He described the Osun governorship election as a major test for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies ahead of the 2027 general elections.


According to him, Nigerians expect an election that is free, fair, credible and devoid of violence.


While dismissing claims that the APC is losing political ground ahead of 2027, Bashiru maintained that the party continues to enjoy growing support across the country and would sustain its mobilisation efforts around the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.


Despite his confidence in an APC victory, Bashiru reiterated that the ultimate decision rests with the electorate, stressing that the party would respect the outcome of the election if it genuinely reflects the will of the people.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

  By Abdulahi Musa  The Accord Party has won the governorship election at the polling unit of former Osun Deputy Governor and ex-National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore. Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit. The development marks another early gain for Accord as the collation of results from polling units across Osun State continues.
