Atiku Questions Tinubu Govt’s N600bn Cash Transfer, Demands Account of 10m Beneficiaries

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has challenged the Federal Government to explain what he described as “glaring contradictions” in its claim that more than N600bn has been disbursed to slightly over 10 million households under its cash-transfer programme.


Atiku raised questions over the figures released by the administration of President Bola Tinubu, particularly the number of beneficiaries said to have received payments under the programme.


The former Vice-President urged the government to provide a detailed account of the beneficiaries and funds disbursed, amid concerns over transparency and accountability in the implementation of the social intervention programme.


He questioned the basis for the government’s figures, demanding clarification on the number of Nigerians who have actually benefited from the scheme and how the funds were distributed.


Atiku’s position comes amid ongoing scrutiny of the Federal Government’s social investment programmes, including its conditional cash-transfer initiative targeted at vulnerable households.


The former Vice-President called on the Tinubu administration to make available comprehensive records that would enable Nigerians to independently assess the implementation of the programme.


He maintained that public funds committed to poverty alleviation programmes must be properly accounted for, particularly given the economic difficulties facing millions of Nigerians.


Atiku’s demand has further intensified calls for greater transparency in the management of the Federal Government’s social intervention funds and the identification of beneficiaries.


The former Vice-President has consistently criticised aspects of the Tinubu administration’s economic policies and implementation of its social welfare programmes, insisting that government interventions must be transparent, verifiable and beneficial to Nigerians.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

  By Abdulahi Musa  The Accord Party has won the governorship election at the polling unit of former Osun Deputy Governor and ex-National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore. Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit.
