The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in the August 15, 2026 Osun State governorship election, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, has congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke on his victory as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, spoke on Saturday in Osogbo while addressing APC leaders, members and supporters on the outcome of the election and the party’s preparations for the 2027 general elections.
While congratulating Adeleke, Oyebamiji urged the governor, as the state’s Chief Security Officer, to take immediate measures to halt what he described as killings, harassment and intimidation of APC members and supporters across the state.
He also called on the Nigeria Police Force to conduct thorough investigations into reported cases of political violence and ensure that those responsible were prosecuted.
The APC candidate expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support before, during and after the election, while also commending former Osun State Governor and former APC National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande, for his counsel and support.
Oyebamiji similarly praised the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and former governor of the state, Adegboyega Oyetola, for his contributions to repositioning the APC in Osun.
Reflecting on his emergence as the party’s governorship candidate in December 2025, Oyebamiji said various tendencies within the APC subsequently put aside their differences and united behind the objective of winning the election.
He said his campaign traversed communities across the state, engaging civil servants, retirees, artisans, students, youths, entrepreneurs, women, professionals, sporting groups, persons living with disabilities and religious organisations.
However, Oyebamiji expressed concern over what he described as violence before, during and particularly after the election.
He listed the former Irewole Local Government Chairman, Remi Abass; APC Chairman in Atakumosa Local Government, Gbenga Ogbara; and Dele Ayegbo, identified as the nephew of the Director-General of the APC Governorship Campaign Council, Wole Oke, among those allegedly killed.
He also claimed that more than 35 other people lost their lives in incidents connected to the political crisis.
Oyebamiji appealed to security agencies to investigate the incidents and bring the perpetrators to justice, while extending his condolences to families who lost loved ones.
He assured the bereaved families that they would not be abandoned and called for measures to prevent further attacks.
While joining the people of Osun in commemorating the 35th anniversary of the state’s creation, Oyebamiji urged Adeleke to deploy the powers of his office to protect the lives and property of residents, regardless of their political affiliations.
He condemned attacks on APC members, supporters and businesses allegedly targeted because of their political leanings, describing such incidents as detrimental to the state’s development and investment prospects.
“The senseless killings, harassment and intimidation of members and supporters of our party must therefore stop forthwith,” he said.
On the outcome of the election, Oyebamiji said the APC would continue to seek justice and fairness through lawful and constitutional means, particularly in relation to the electoral process.
He urged party members not to lose hope over the election result, advising them to remain committed to democratic principles and trust the institutions established to protect their rights.
Oyebamiji also called on APC leaders, members and supporters across the state to begin preparations for the 2027 general elections.
He specifically urged them to mobilise support for Tinubu’s re-election bid while strengthening the APC’s structures across the state in preparation for the next electoral cycle.
The APC candidate commended party members for what he described as their resilience and commitment throughout the 2026 election, saying the party remained committed to building a greater Osun where public resources were equitably deployed, opportunities were accessible to all and governance served the broader interests of the people.
