Osun 2026: 2.3m Voters, 3,763 Polling Units Set for Saturday’s Governorship Election

 Voting in the 2026 Osun State Governorship Election is scheduled to commence at 8:30am and close at 2:30pm, according to election information released ahead of Saturday’s poll.


The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has, however, stated that voters who are already on the queue by 2:30pm will be allowed to exercise their franchise.


The election will be conducted across the state’s 30 Local Government Areas, 332 wards and 3,763 polling units, with a total of 2,339,233 registered voters expected to participate in the exercise.


The figures highlight the scale of the governorship election, as eligible voters across the state prepare to elect the governor who will lead Osun for the next four-year term.


INEC has urged voters to arrive at their designated polling units early, comply with electoral guidelines and maintain peace throughout the voting and collation processes.


Security agencies and election officials are expected to be deployed across the state to ensure a smooth and orderly conduct of the election.


The election is scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026, with attention focused on the 3,763 polling units across Osun State.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

  By Abdulahi Musa  The Accord Party has won the governorship election at the polling unit of former Osun Deputy Governor and ex-National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore. Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit.
