Osun 2026: Okpebholo Mocks Adeleke, Says 'Four Years of Dancing Is Enough'

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has mocked Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, over his well-known dancing style, saying the Osun governor has spent his four-year tenure dancing instead of focusing on governance.


Speaking at an All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State, Okpebholo questioned Adeleke's leadership, arguing that the state deserved better.


The Edo governor said Adeleke dances before carrying out virtually every activity, claiming the governor prioritises entertainment over governance.


> "For four years, this man has been dancing. Before he takes breakfast, he will dance. Before he drinks tea, he will dance. Before he signs any paper, he will dance," Okpebholo said. 


He further asked supporters whether the people of Osun had not grown tired of having "a dancing governor," urging them to vote for the APC candidate in the forthcoming governorship election. 


Adeleke, popularly known as Nigeria's "Dancing Governor," has frequently defended his public dancing, insisting it is a personal expression of joy and praise to God that does not interfere with his official responsibilities.


In a previous interview, the Osun governor maintained that he would continue dancing while carrying out his duties, saying, "I will keep dancing because I love to dance, I love to praise my God, and that doesn't change anything. So, I will still dance, praise my God, and do my work." 


Okpebholo's remarks come amid intensified political campaigns as parties seek to rally support ahead of the crucial Osun governorship election scheduled for August 15.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

  By Abdulahi Musa  The Accord Party has won the governorship election at the polling unit of former Osun Deputy Governor and ex-National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore. Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit.
