Osun APC Sets 1m-Vote Target for Tinubu, Passes Confidence Vote in Oyetola

 Stakeholders of  All Progressives Congress in Osun State have passed a vote of confidence in the leadership of former Governor and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, while reaffirming their commitment to delivering one million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

The resolutions were reached at an expanded stakeholders’ meeting held in Osogbo following the conclusion of the 2026 Osun State governorship election.

The meeting provided an opportunity for party leaders, stakeholders and members to review the outcome of the election and deliberate on strategies for rebuilding the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

A motion for a vote of confidence in Oyetola was moved by a former member of the Osun State House of Assembly representing Orolu and Irepodun constituencies, Kamil Oyedele, and seconded by Oyetunji Agunbiade.

The motion was unanimously supported by stakeholders, who commended Oyetola’s leadership, experience and contributions to the development of the party in the state.

The stakeholders also renewed their support for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, pledging to mobilise voters across the state and work towards securing one million votes for the President.

Speaking at the meeting, the APC candidate in the August 15 governorship election, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, called for peace, unity and genuine reconciliation among party members.

Oyebamiji urged members to put the outcome of the governorship election behind them and focus on rebuilding the party into a stronger and more cohesive political organisation.

He said the APC must address its internal disagreements, strengthen its grassroots structures and ensure that members feel valued and included in the party’s decision-making process.

According to him, internal unity would be crucial to the party’s prospects in 2027, particularly its efforts to secure victory for Tinubu in Osun.

Oyetola, in his remarks, expressed confidence that the APC could rebuild its political strength and return to electoral relevance in the state.

The former governor acknowledged the challenges facing the party and urged members to learn from the outcome of the 2026 governorship election rather than allow the result to deepen existing divisions.

He called for reconciliation with aggrieved members and urged party leaders to make deliberate efforts to bring estranged members back into the fold.

Oyetola emphasised the importance of forgiveness, dialogue and unity, warning that the APC could not afford to approach the 2027 elections as a divided party.

He maintained that with genuine reconciliation, strategic mobilisation and renewed commitment to the party’s ideals, the APC could achieve its electoral objectives in Osun State.

The meeting ended with stakeholders resolving to intensify efforts to rebuild the party from the grassroots, strengthen internal cohesion and mobilise support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The stakeholders subsequently reaffirmed their one-million-vote target for the President, signalling the APC’s determination to mount a stronger political challenge in Osun in the next electoral cycle.
