Osun APC Studies Election Results, Signals Legal Challenge, Urges Supporters to Remain Calm

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said it is studying the results of the August 15, 2026 governorship election across the state before deciding on its next line of action.

The party, in a statement issued on Sunday by its Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, said it was reviewing the results from the 332 wards in the state to determine whether to pursue available legal options.

The APC maintained that the electoral process does not end with the declaration of results by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), stressing that aggrieved parties have constitutional avenues to challenge alleged irregularities through the election tribunal, Court of Appeal and, where applicable, the Supreme Court.

According to the party, the electoral process begins with voter registration and party primaries and extends to the conduct of the election and the resolution of disputes arising from it.

The APC said it would consult its legal team and, based on professional advice, explore the opportunities provided under the applicable electoral laws to address what it described as anomalies observed during the election.

While acknowledging INEC’s declaration of the governorship election results, the party said the development would not make it abandon its commitment to the rule of law, fairness and justice.

The party also commended its members and supporters for their “steadfastness, sagacity and loyalty” throughout the election, urging them not to lose hope over the outcome.

The APC appealed to its supporters to remain calm, continue with their normal activities and avoid responding to alleged provocative actions by members of the ruling party.

It further called on the Nigeria Police Force to protect its members and supporters who, according to the party, were being “needlessly molested” by members of the ruling party.

The opposition party assured its members that it would not abandon them, describing the current political situation in Osun as a passing phase that would eventually become part of history.

The statement concluded with the APC expressing confidence that justice would ultimately prevail through the appropriate constitutional and legal channels.
